DThe Slowfood Burgenland initiative invited the people of Markt der Erde Lutzmannsburg to the Catholic Pfarrstadl on Saturday for its fifth birthday.

In addition to the classic regional market offer (pastries, vegetables, sausages, cheese, oils…), there was also live music by the Eidaxl combination, a birthday cake and a competition on Saturday to celebrate the birthday. Sandra Buczolich, Anica Kostyan and Ottakar Sliva were also represented with ceramic art, Astrid Sänger with hand-bound picture books and Anni Stifter with bags and wind chimes.

Earth Markets Earth Markets are part of the international Slow Food network. There are about 80 such markets worldwide. Their specialty is that the products must be manufactured within a radius of more than 40 kilometers from the market. In addition, plastic and disposable containers are mostly discarded.

“Lurra market is a regional platform for regional producers. Here customers have the opportunity to meet the people behind the products. In 2018 we started with 15 exhibitors. Meanwhile, there are always about 25 regional exhibitors. It’s nice to see that a real community has grown over the past few years. Awareness of high-quality, regionally produced food is increasing,” says organizer Kerstin Rohrer happily. The Land Market in Lutzmannsburg is held every second Saturday of the month.
